SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On January, 10, 2017 at approximately 1659 hours the Vermont State Police and Grand Isle Sheriff Department were notified of a single vehicle crash on East Shore Road in South Hero, VT near the East Shore Vineyard Tasting Room. 

 

Upon arrival the vehicle was observed impacted into a large tree off the west side of the East Shore Road roadway.  The operator, identified as 39 year-old Thomas Tourville of St. Albans, VT, was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The initial investigation has revealed that Vehicle 1 was heading north on East Shore Road prior to the crash at a high rate of speed.  Vehicle 1 exited the roadway off of the west side before impacting a large tree.   Vehicle 1 sustained major damage to its front end.

 

While this investigation is ongoing, speed is being investigated as a possible factor in this crash.  Alcohol and drug influence is unknown at this time.
