SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On 1/2/2017 at approximately 1139 hours, the Vermont State Police received a report of a missing person, identified as Quincy O’Gorman. O’Gorman was last seen at approximately 2300 hours on 12/31/2016 in Island Pond, VT.
O’Gorman is 23 years old, 5’10”, approximately 200 pounds, brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information regarding O’Gorman’s whereabouts are urged to contact the Vermont State Police Derby Barracks.
On 01/03/2017 the Vermont State Police Scuba team, Brighton Police Department, and Vermont Fish and Wildlife searched areas of Island Pond for Quincy O’Gorman.
On 12/31/2016 at approximately 11:43 pm a trooper made a motor vehicle stop in Island Pond village. The reason for the stop was failing to stop at a posted stop sign and erratic operation. Upon stopping, four occupants of this vehicle immediately exited the vehicle and began to run. The trooper was able to detain two passengers from the vehicle. The operator and third passenger continued to flee to the rear of a nearby residence. A short time later, Brighton Police Chief located a male passenger, from this vehicle, behind a local business. It was learned through talking with the passengers that Mr. O’Gorman was the operator and his whereabouts were still unknown. A K9 was called to the scene to conduct a track. Based on this track it was believed that Mr. O’Gorman had crossed a small brook and continued on foot in and around Island Pond Village. Brighton Police, Essex County Sheriff’s deputies, and Vt. State Troopers continued to try and locate Mr. O’Gorman, but were unsuccessful. On 01/02/2017 family members reported that Mr. O’Gorman was still missing.
The Vermont Scuba team was called in to search the brook and swamp area surrounding Island Pond Village. VAST trails in the area were also searched. Another ground search has been scheduled for 01/04/2017. Anyone who may have any information involving Mr. O’Gorman is asked to contact the Derby State Police Barracks at 802-334-8881.
