SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On 07/30/16 at about 1326 hours, members of the Vermont State Police responded

to a reported single vehicle crash involving a dump truck on USRT 7 in Waltham.

Initial reported indicated that the dump truck had left the travel portion of USRT

7, collided with a utility pole and rolled onto its side in a field off the

southbound shoulder of the road.

Investigation on scene coupled with eye witness statements revealed that the a

2001 Kenworth dump truck (with a full load of stone) operated by Bruce Alger was

traveling north on USRT 7.  While traveling north, the driver's side front tire

blew out, causing Alger to lose control of the vehicle.  As a result of the tire

loss, the vehicle subsequently crossed over the southbound lane of travel and

into the soft shoulder of the road.  The vehicle then collided with a utility

pole as it left the road and began to skid sideways.  After colliding with the

utility pole, the dump truck entered a grass and dirt covered field where it

rolled over and came to final rest on its driver's side.

The driver (Alger) of the vehicle was assisted out of the vehicle by first

responders and witnesses.  He was transported to UVM Medical Center for

treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by Vergennes Police, Vergennes

Rescue, New Haven Fire Department, and Green Mountain Power Company.
