DEATH INVESTIGATION:

 

DATE/TIME:  December 12, 2016

LOCATION:  Killington Ski Resort, Town of Killington, VT

 

VICTIM:  Walter E. Gorgas  

AGE:  80

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE:  Wappingers Falls, NY 12590

 

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

The Vermont State Police and The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) are investigating the Untimely Death of Walter E. Gorgas, age 80.  Gorgas was observed collapsing on the Trail “Header” at the Killington Ski Resort on December 12, 2016, at approximately 14:32 hours. 

Gorgas was transported to the Rutland Regional Medical Center by Rutland Ambulance Service and was pronounced dead at 15:50 hours.  There was no indication that Gorgas had collided with any other skiers and/or objects and appears to be a natural event.  It was reported Gorgas was a very experienced skier and instructor at the Killington Ski Resort.  No other information is being released at this time.
