SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On 12/28/16 at approximately 0044 hours, Vermont State Police were dispatched to
motor vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer unit in the area of VT RT 8 and
VT RT 9, Searsburg. The truck was reported to have rolled onto its side.

Troopers arrived on scene and began investigating the crash. The operator,
Mikolaj Piotrowicz, advised he had lost control on the icy roadway and could not
regain control of the truck once it began to slide. Piotrowicz was able to steer
the truck partially onto a runaway truck ramp, however the trailer he was
hauling tipped onto its side, nearly causing the tractor unit to tip as well and
twisted the frame of the truck. Road conditions at the time were extremely icy
and were a major factor in this crash.

The truck is scheduled to be removed from the runaway truck ramp later during
the daylight hours of 12/28.
