SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On 12/05/16 at approximately 0600 hours, members of the Vermont State Police, New Haven Barracks investigated a single vehicle crash on Basin Harbor Road near Panton Road in the town of Panton. Investigation revealed that a 2016 Subaru XCV sedan operated by Alissa Pabon was traveling south on Basin Harbor Road.  While traveling southbound, Pabon reported that she lost control of her vehicle do to some ice and snow on the roadway.  Vehicle #1 crossed the center of the road and left the road, making contact with a large tree.  Pabon estimated her speed to be about 30 mph at the time of the crash.  Pabon, who was wearing her seat belt while operating, was the only occupant of the vehicle. Vehicle #1 sustained massive impact damage to the front end, and the right front wheel was torn from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed away from the scene by Mid-State Towing of New Haven, VT. Pabon was transported to Porter Hospital located in the Town of Middlebury for evaluation.

 

The road conditions at the time of the crash were, as well as the vehicle's lack of sufficient tires for the weather were found to be a contributing factor.

 

The Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by the Addison County Sheriff's

Department.
