SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On December 13, 2016, at approximately 2239 hours, Troopers of the Vermont State Police assigned to the Rutland Barracks were notified of a motor vehicle crash on Townline Road, Rutland Town, Vermont, which included a motor vehicle striking a residential house.

At approximately 2250 hours, Troopers arrived and observed severe structural damage to the residence at 438 Townline Road. During the initial investigation, a male identified as Christopher Pinkowski, advised he was traveling south on Townline Road, when he came upon black ice. As he traversed over the black ice he lost control, left the travel portion of the roadway, and struck the residence.

While speaking to Pinkowski he displayed signs of impairment. He participated in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. At approximately 2310 hours Pinkowski provided a preliminary breath sample, which measured his breath alcohol content (BrAC) as a 0.209%. Pinkowski was subsequently taken into custody, and transported to the State Police Barracks in Rutland, where he was processed for suspicion of DUI. Pinkowski was later released on citation to appear at Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later time and date.

There were no injuries sustained as a result of the crash.

Members of the Rutland Town Volunteer Fire Department and Regional Ambulance Service responded and assisted with this incident.
