SUMMARY OF CRASH: On December 18, 2016, at approximately 10:30 A.M. Troopers with the Vermont State Police, Westminster Barracks, responded to a single vehicle crash on Dover Road in Newfane, near Rutha Drive. Upon arrival, Troopers spoke with the operator of the vehicle, John Meaney, 20, of Woburn, Massachusetts. Meaney stated he was travelling north on Dover Road. Meaney stated he traveled into the slush on the right side of the road. Meaney stated he began to slide off the road and was unable to gain control of the vehicle. Meaney travelled off the right side of Dover Road and struck a small tree causing minor damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. Speed was determined to be a factor in this crash. Therefore, Meaney was issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint (ticket) for operating too fast for the road conditions. Meaney was not injured and advised he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
