ACCUSED:       Martin Berno, age 35

                              Duxbury, VT

 

CHARGED WITH:       Selling or dispensing a regulated drug with death resulting, Title 18 V.S.A. 4250 (a)

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On 9/17/16 at approximately 0630 hours the Vermont State Police investigated the death of 30 year old Kyle Bates of Wisconsin after he was found deceased at his camp site by a relative.  Bates was staying at the Duxbury Campground while assigned to a work site in Vermont.  An autopsy was performed on Bates and the cause of death was listed to be acute mixed intoxication (narcotics and prescription drugs).  An investigation ensued and it was determined that Martin Berno, age 35 of Duxbury, supplied Bates with a narcotic drug shortly before his death.  Berno was cited to appear in Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division for December 8th, 2016 at 0830 hours to answer to the charge of selling or dispensing a regulated drug with death resulting.  

 

This is an on-going investigation and no further information is available at this time.
