SUMMARY OF CRASH:

Lyndes was driving a dump truck in the north bound lane of Interstate 91 at approximately 10:30 AM when he lost control of the vehicle.  The truck was loaded with asphalt and as the vehicle swerved, Lyndes entered into a series of over-corrections which resulted in the truck flipping over.  The truck skidded for several feet before coming rest on the driver side of the vehicle.  The load of asphalt spilled and most of the material landed in the median.  The truck came to a stop within the middle of the roadway straddling both lanes of travel.

Hartford Fire, Ambulance and Police responded to the scene and assisted with traffic control and eventually transported the operator to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.  The Vermont Department of Transportation was contacted to assess the scene for removal of the material in the median and assisted with closing down the interstate at Exit 12 northbound.  A temporary detour route was established to divert traffic from approximately 11:00 AM to 4:45 PM.  The Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles responded to assist in the investigation with the physical inspection of the commercial vehicle.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.  Anyone with information about the crash are asked to contact the Vermont State Police, Sgt. E. Hudson, at 802-234-9933.
