SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On November 28, 2016, at approximately 1027 hours, Troopers from the Rutland Vermont State Police barracks responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle crash located on US RT 22A, approximately 1/4 mile south of the intersection of North Cross Road in Benson, Vermont. 

 

Vehicle #1 being operated by Doris L. Leffler, was travelling south on US RT 22A, when the vehicle left the right side of the roadway and impacted several trees, and rolled over onto its roof.

 

VT RT 22A is a two lane highway, primarily running north and south with a posted speed limit of 50 miles per hour. 

 

Both occupants were wearing seatbelts, and airbags were deployed.

 

Operator #1 was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.

Passenger #1 sustained critical injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

 

Troopers were assisted on scene by the Benson Volunteer Fire Department, Orwell Volunteer Fire Department, Benson First Response, Fair Haven Rescue Squad, and Fair Haven Fire Department, Vermont Fish and Game, Vermont DMV, and Vermont VTRANS.
