SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On November 2, 2016 at approximately 0924 hours, the Williston PSAP received a report of a tractor

trailer rollover on Interstate 89 northbound near mile marker 81 in the Town of Williston.

State Troopers responded to the scene with the assistance of the Department of Motor Vehicle and

the Williston Fire Department. The tractor trailer was located on its passenger's side in the travel lane

shoulder of Interstate 89 northbound. The operator was present and verbally identified himself as

Allen R. Johnson Sr of Meriden, CT.

While investigating the collision, Troopers noted an odor of intoxicants coming from the operator.

The operator performed Standard Field Sobriety Exercises(SFSEs) and provided a Preliminary Breath

Test (PBT) of 0.209% BAC. The operator was taken into custody and transported to the Williston State

Police Barracks for processing.

Investigation also revealed that while Johnson was traveling north on the interstate at 63 miles

per hour in a full size tractor trailer unit, he stood up from his driver’s seat and was attempting to

change his pants in the front cab. Johnson was standing up vertically between the two front cab

seats while his truck was in motion.

The operator was released on citation to appear in Chittenden County Criminal Court on 11/22/16

at 0815 hours for the charges of Driving Under the Influence while Operating a Commercial Motor

Vehicle (CMV) and Negligent Operation.

It should be noted that the legal limit for operating a (CMV) under the influence on a public

highway is .04%. Johnson was approximately 5 times that limit.
