ACCUSED: William Hughes                                              

AGE: 50

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Arlington, Vermont

 

VICTIM: (The Vermont State Police does not release the names of victims of

sexual assault or domestic violence.)

 

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On November 19, 2016, at approximately 9:15 P.M., members of the Vermont State

Poliec and Bennington County Sheriffs Office responded to a residence in

Arlington, Vermont for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed that

William Hughes assaulted an individual while inside his residence. During the

investigation, Hughes also provided false information to a law enforcement

officer and was found to be unlawfully in possession of two firearms. Hughes was

arrested and transported to the Shaftsbury Barracks where he was fingerprinted

and photographed. Honorable Judge David Howard of the Bennington County Superior

Court Criminal Division was contacted and ordered Hughes to be held without bail

and transported to Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility.
