SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On 11/14/2016 at approximately 1803 hours State Troopers assigned to the St. Albans Field Station attempted to stop a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on VT Route 104 in St. Albans, VT.  The operator, ultimately identified as 18 year-old John Martin of St. Albans, VT, did not yield and subsequently led Troopers on a high speed pursuit into Fairfax, VT.

The pursuit concluded as the vehicle became disabled after Martin drove off of the roadway on Snowcrest Road in Fairfax, VT.  The subsequent investigation yielded that Martin and his 18 year-old passenger, Kristen Yerry, had stolen the vehicle from a downtown St. Albans restaurant approximately 30 minutes prior to encountering VSP.  The registered owner had not previously been aware that the vehicle was stolen.

Martin and Yerry were taken into custody and processed at the St. Albans Field Station.  Yerry was released with a citation to appear in Franklin County District Court on 11/14/2016 at 1:00pm to answer the charges of Accessory to Grand Larceny and Accessory to Aggravated Operation without Owner Consent.  Martin was lodged at the Northwest Correctional Facility for lack of $5000 bail.  He is scheduled to appear in Franklin County District Court on 11/14/2016 at 1:00pm to answer the charges of Grand Larceny, Aggravated Operation without Owner’s Consent, Felony Attempting to Elude, Excessive Speed, Careless and Negligent Operation, and DUI.
