SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On October 31, 2016, a male entered the Berkshire Elementary School during the Trunk or Treat event and stole 3 iPads from a classroom.   On November 1, 2016, the principle reported the theft to VSP St Albans after reviewing security film.  The principle provided the State Police with still images of the individual in question and officers from St Albans Police Department were able to make a positive identification of the male, Jeremy Humphrey, from a booking photo where Humphrey was wearing what appeared to be a similar sweater .  Berkshire Elementary School later posted photos of Humphrey on Face Book, leading to numerous tips to the school, as well as the State Police.

 

On November 2, 2016, VSP St Albans, applied for a search warrant for Humphreys residence in Berkshire. VSP St Albans, USBP Agents and Community Correction Officers from the Field Supervision Unit of Probation and Parole executed the warrant at Humphrey’s residence.  Humphrey was arrested for the burglary of Berkshire Elementary School as well as two counts of Violation of Conditions of Release for violating the following conditions;

 

1.      Ordered on 05/02/16, 2 counts of Retail theft $900 or less.

2.      Ordered on 06/06/16, Domestic Assault, Interference with Access to Emergency Services

3.      Ordered on 06/27/16, Burglary

4.      Ordered on 08/23/16, Retail theft $900 or less.

 

Humphrey’s was lodged by Probation and Parole as an Arrest of a Probationer for violating his probation agreement as well.  VSP St Albans is requesting that anyone with information regarding this incident contact the St Albans Barracks.
