SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On Thursday, October 13, 2016 at approximately 1744 hours, the Vermont State Police were notified of a single-vehicle crash on US Route 7 South, near the southern end of Hartsboro Road in the Town of Wallingford. Troopers from the Rutland Barracks responded to the scene and located a 1996 Ford Taurus in the northbound travel lane. The Wallingford Fire Department also responded to the scene and managed traffic direction around the crash scene. Preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle had been traveling north when it left the travel lane and collided with the end of a metal guardrail on the right (east) shoulder.

Kevin M. Southwick was identified as the operator of the vehicle. He was not injured. Investigation revealed that Southwick was traveling north on US Route 7 and failed to negotiate a slight left curve. His vehicle traveled onto the right (eastern) shoulder before striking the end of a metal guardrail. The crash damaged his vehicle and caused significant damage to the end of the metal guardrail. Traffic was slowed to one lane for approximately thirty minutes while the vehicle was removed from the roadway.

Southwick was found to be at fault for the crash. The Wallingford Fire Department assisted at the scene. The vehicle was removed by East Creek Motors.
