SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On Thursday, October 20, 2016 at approximately 1604 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police-Rutland Barracks responded to a minor three-car crash at the intersection of US Route 7 and Vermont Route 3 in the Town of Pittsford, VT.

Investigation determined that all three vehicles were traveling north on US Route 7. Operator #3 (Fortin) and Operator #2 (Capek-Disorda) had stopped in traffic to wait for a turning vehicle in front of them. Operator #3 didn’t stop his vehicle in time to avoid vehicles #2 and #3, and rear-ended vehicle #2, causing vehicle #2 to rear-end vehicle #3. No one was injured. All damage was minor. All three vehicles were removed from the roadway under their own power. Operator #1 (Gillingham) was found to be at fault for the crash and in violation of Title 23 VSA 1039, following too closely. He was issued a written warning for the violation. The wet road conditions contributed to the crash by causing increased stopping distances.
