SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On October 22, 2016, at approximately 2154 hours, State Police were notified of a single motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Mill Pond Road and East Road in Benson, Vermont.

On arrival, State Police met with bystanders who called in the crash and were advised the operator smelled like alcohol and they believed the operator was drinking.  The operator was on scene and identified herself as Elizabeth R. Guyette (25) by Vermont photo operators license.  Guyette advised she was operating, a blue 2003 Toyota Matrix, and was traveling east on Mill Pond Road. She advised she went off the road when turning north on East Road. Guyette advised she was not injured.

Marks on the roadway and the position of the vehicle indicate the vehicle was traveling east on Mill Pond Road and failed to negotiate the turn, traveling across East Road and into the ditch.

While interacting with Guyette, she displayed several signs of impairment and was screened for driving under the influence. Guyette refused to provide a preliminary breath sample and was taken into custody for further processing for driving under the influence.

Guyette was processed and issued a citation to appear in court for Driving Under the Influence.
