SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On September 10, 2016, at approximately 2:21 PM, Troopers from the Rutland Barracks responded to a single vehicle traffic crash located on US Route 7, in the vicinity of 1215 US Route 7, located in Pittsford, Vermont.  At the time of this crash there was precipitation in the form of rain, due to this there was standing water on the roadway surface.

Troopers identified the operator of the vehicle as Jason New, and the passenger in the vehicle as Sarah Dillon, both of Brandon, Vermont.

Investigation revealed the Ford Focus being operated by New was traveling south on US Route 7 at speeds no greater than 50 miles per hour.  The Ford traveled over rain water which was on the roadway surface, and as a result began to hydroplane.  Due to this the vehicle began rotate counterclockwise.  The Ford traveled off the roadway sideways where it overturned, coming to rest on its wheels.

Neither New or Dillon were injured as a result of the crash.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Pittsford Volunteer Fire Department and Pittsford First Response.
