SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On 09/06/2016 at approximately 1800 hrs Devin Briggs was in police custody at the Vermont State Police Shaftsbury field station.  While Briggs was in a holding cell, he became irate and combative. 

While in the cell, Briggs began kicking the holding cell door, damaging it.  Police entered the holding cell in order to keep Briggs from damaging more property.  While attempting to restrain Briggs, he assaulted two State Troopers and began spitting at them. Briggs resisted arrest and was eventually placed into handcuffs and restrained.

Briggs was transported to the Marble Valley jail on charges he was already in custody for.  Briggs was later cited to appear at Bennington Criminal Court on 10/03/2016 for the offenses of Assault on Law Enforcement Officer X2, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Mischief and Attempted Escape of a local lockup facility.

Briggs was remanded to jail on $20,000 on the arrest he was already in custody for.
