SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On 9-26-16 Troopers based out of the Rutland Barracks received a complaint of an intoxicated operator who had left the town of Ira via VT Route 133.  The vehicle in question, a 2002 Chrysler Sebring, was being operated by a Stephen Barrows, who had reportedly left a residence in Ira and was intoxicated.  Trooper Rider, who has responded to the area was able to locate the vehicle on VT Route 133 in the town of West Rutland.  The vehicle had been driven off the roadway, and left in culvert.  Barrows was found a short distance from the scene of the crash hitch hiking.  As Trooper Rider approached Barrows he fled on foot.  A short foot pursuit ensued before Trooper Rider was able to apprehend Barrows.  Investigation revealed that Barrows had been operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.  Barrows was subsequently processed for DUI at the Rutland Barracks and was issued a citation to appear in Rutland Criminal Court to face the charge of DUI.
