SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 09/01/2016 at approximately 2016 hours, Vermont 911 received a call from a concerned citizen about a vehicle that was being operated in an erratic manner on Route 100 in Wardsboro. During the call to 911, it was reported that citizen was following the vehicle it had nearly crashed into several vehicles and nearly struck the guardrail on several occasions. Trooper located the vehicle stopped on Route 30 in Townshend. During the roadside investigation it was determined that the operator of the vehicle, Mary Kate Gilrein was operating under the influence of alcohol. Gilrein refused to perform any sobriety exercises at the roadside and refused to provide a preliminary breath test. Gilrein was taken into custody and transported to VSP Westminster for processing. While at the barracks, Gilrein provided a sample of her breath and the result was .303%. Gilrein was ordered held until sober, .04 or below at the Southern State Correctional Facility. Gilrein was issued a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division on September 20, 2016 to answer to the charge of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol.
