SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On September 12, 2016 at approximately 1900 hours Troopers from the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks responded to a single motor vehicle crash on Carter Street in Benson, Vermont.  On arrival Troopers observed a white SUV, later identified as a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee  off the west side of the road.  The operator identified himself verbally as Kevin LaRock (17). No others were involved in the crash.

Investigation revealed LaRock was traveling north on Carter Street when he lost control of his vehicle and went off the roadway.  His vehicle rolled onto its roof after going into the ditch.  No airbags were deployed, but all windows on the driver side were shattered and the vehicle sustained contact damage to the roof and hood.

LaRock advised he sustained minor scrapes to his hand, however elected to be transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for detailed evaluation. A contributing factor to LaRock’s lack of injuries was wearing his seatbelt.

The cause of this crash was LaRock failing to maintain his lane.  Contributing factors to this crash were inexperience of the operator and traveling too fast for road conditions.
