SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On September 29th, 2016, at approximately 2103 hours, the Vermont State Police investigated a single vehicle crash that occurred on Quarterline Road, in the Town of Clarendon. State Troopers were initially advised by the two vehicle occupants on scene that a third occupant had been operating the vehicle and had fled the scene on foot. It was determined through investigation that the operator of the vehicle was one of the original two occupants who were on scene, and that no third party was involved. The male who had been operating the vehicle at the time of the crash was identified as Anthony Vero III, age 31, of Rutland, Vermont. The vehicle had been traveling north, and left the west side of the roadway, when Vero attempted to avoid striking a deer in the roadway. The driver’s side of the vehicle struck a tree over a small embankment.

While speaking with the Vero, he exhibited several signs of impairment. Vero was screened for Driving Under the Influence, and refused to provide a preliminary breath sample. Vero was taken into custody for Suspicion of DUI #2, Driving License Suspended Criminally, and was processed at the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks.
