SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On September 27, 2016, at approximately 1202 hrs, Vermont State Police responded to a two vehicle crash in front of Carey’s Auto, located at 296 N Main St, Rutland, VT.

Investigation revealed that James Howland was operating his 2002 Chevy Tracker as he exited Carey’s Auto onto North Main St as northbound traffic approached. Jessica Santini was operating her 2016 GMC Acadia northbound and struck the Tracker within the inside northbound lane. After the collision, Santini’s vehicle deflected to the west and traveled down a steep embankment north of Lincoln Ave.  Meanwhile, Howland was partially ejected from his vehicle as it continued to roll northbound within the southbound lanes before stopping at Lincoln Ave.

Howland and Santini were both transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

The Rutland Town FD, Rutland Town PD, and several motorists assisted at the scene.

Both vehicles were removed by local tow services.

The crash is still under investigation. Neither drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
