SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On Saturday at approximately 14:00 hours the Vermont State Police and Williston Fire Department responded to a car fire on Interstate 89 (northbound) in Williston.   Upon arrival the vehicle was stopped in the emergency breakdown lane and the engine compartment of the vehicle was fully engulfed.  The operator, twenty year old Albert Baird of Morrisville, Vermont was able to get out of the vehicle safely and was uninjured.   The Williston Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.  Both lanes of northbound travel were shut down for approximately twenty minutes while the fire was put out.   A single lane was re-opened to northbound traffic at that time and both lanes were fully restored after approximately one hour.
