SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On September 12th 2016 at approximately 1453 hours Vermont State Police out of the Williston Barracks received a call of a box truck spilling a liquid out of the rear cargo area onto the road surface on Skunk Hollow Road.  The vehicle was eventually stopped on Rte. 15 near the Underhill/ Jericho Fire House.  It was learned the liquid that was spilling out of the truck was home heating fuel that was leaking out of drums that were in the rear of the box truck.  The preliminary investigation revealed the company Tank Out was transporting several drums en route to a job site.  A drum in the cargo area began leaking the fuel for a distance of over seven miles.
Underhill/ Jericho Fire coordinated the clean-up efforts that included a local professional clean up company and Jericho Town Highway.  Skunk Hollow Road was closed to traffic for approximately three hours until the road surface could be cleaned.  Tyler Place was closed to all traffic was well during this time period.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
