SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On September 10, 2016 at approximately 8:26 AM Vermont State Police received a call from an off-duty Chittenden County Sheriff’s Deputy reporting there was a driver at the southbound Williston rest area drinking alcohol while sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. The deputy reported the driver was about to leave.

State Troopers responded to the rest area and made contact with the operator who was identified as Robert Brooke of Williston. Investigation determined that Brooke was behind the wheel of his vehicle with the keys in the ignition and the vehicle on, placing him in actual physical control of the vehicle. Brooke was screened for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. After performing standard field sobriety exercises, Brooke provided a preliminary breath sample which yielded a result of .091% BAC. He was subsequently arrested and transported back to the Williston State Police Barracks where he was cited to appear in Chittenden County court on 9/29/16 to answer to the charge of DUI.
