SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:  On 09/21/2016 Ronald Griffin reported a burglary into his

camp located at 264 Beach Rd. in Averill. On this date Sgt. Smith met with

Griffin at his camp. Upon initial investigation it was determined that several

unknown subjects had broken into his camp and were possibly still using it.

There were some personal items in the camp that belonged to the subjects, there

was still fire in the wood stove and food left around the kitchen. There was

also evidence present that marijuana was being used and possibly processed in

the camp. The decision was made to leave the camp as it was found for the night.

US Border Patrol was contacted concerning the camp break in. The plan was for

agents from Borer Patrol along with this Trooper to conduct surveillance on the

camp early the next morning in hopes of identifying anyone at the camp. On

09/22/2016 two agents and myself walked into the camp and located a vehicle in

the driveway. After conferring with the owner and learning he was not familiar

with the vehicle owner, the course of action was to wait for the subjects to

leave and stop them on the road. As time passed and no one was exiting the camp,

the decision was made for Border patrol and State Police to surround the camp

and order everyone out. After several attempts of using a police siren three

male subjects exited the camp. All three were taken into custody and transported

to the Border Patrol office in Canaan for processing.

All three subjects were subsequently charged with burglary, larceny and

possession of marijuana. There was a large quantity of marijuana seized from the

camp along with more from the vehicle being used by the male subjects. The

vehicle was seized as evidence and secured at the border patrol station.

This was a perfect example of interagency cooperation with US border Patrol and

the State Police. Border Patrol Agents were instrumental in securing the

perimeter around the camp as well as processing the scene. All three subjects

were transported to the Border Patrol station where they were processed and

cited into court.
