LOCATION: Fishing Access on Crystal Lake located at South Barton, Rd in Barton, VT.

 

VICTIM: Seth Parent

AGE:      41

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE:  New Windsor, NY

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

Barton, VT – 8/04/16–, the Vermont State Police received a call at approximately 7:13PM regarding a possible death as a result of a drowning at Crystal Lake in Barton.  Detectives with the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal investigation responded to investigate.

 

Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Seth Parent, age 41 of New Windsor, New York died while swimming at Crystal Lake. Parent was swimming with a family member when the family member noticed Parent having what appeared to be a medical event. Parent was escorted to the shore at the fishing access where he was unresponsive. The Family member and bystanders who were fishing nearby immediately called 911 and initiated CPR.  The State Police, Barton Rescues and Glover Ambulance Services responded to the scene.  Parent was transported to North Country Hospital in Newport where he was pronounced deceased at 8:34 p.m.

 

The cause of death is suspected to be the result of a medical event but is pending the results of an autopsy. The death is not considered suspicious.
