SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On August 2, 2016, at approximately 20:35 hours, Shaftsbury Troopers stopped a vehicle on Pleasant Street, in the town of Bennington (VT) for several vehicle equipment violations.  

 

One of the passengers in the vehicle was identified as Kanaan Gifford, age 21, of Bennington (VT).  During the traffic stop, Troopers observed several drug indicators, which lead them to believe drugs were in the vehicle. 

 

Troopers gained consent to search the vehicle.  During the search, Troopers found Gifford to be in possession of six (6) bags of heroin, Buprenorphine, and additional drug paraphernalia. 

 

Gifford was ultimately taken into custody and transported to the Shaftsbury Barracks for processing.  Gifford was later released with a citation ordering him to Bennington County Superior Court/ Criminal Division on August 2, 2016 at 08:15 hours to answer to the above charges.
