SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On 08-27-16, at approximately 1848 hours, State Police initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle traveling north on Interstate 89, near mile marker 109, Georgia for a speeding violation.  The vehicle was operating at a speed of 96 MPH in a posted 65 MPH Zone. As a result of the stop the operator was identified as William Smith whose license was civilly suspended in the State of Vermont.  Smith was subsequently taken into custody for Careless & Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Driving While Intoxicated having a preliminary breath test of .103%.  Smith was issued a citation to appear in the Franklin County Court on 09-06-16 for DWI and Careless & Negligent Operation.

 

A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Amanda Mayo.  Mayo had two active arrest warrants for her arrest.  One was for Escape and the second was for Driving While License Suspended.  Additionally Mayo was issued a citation to appear in the Franklin County Court for Violation of Conditions of Release on 10-10-16 as she consumed alcohol. Mayo was lodged at the Chittenden Correctional Center on her warrants.
