SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 08/15/16 at approximately 0747 hours staff from the Putney Central School reported a burglary at the school.  Cpl. Paul Dean took the initial report.  On 08/17/16 just before 0100 hours two male subjects walked into the Brattleboro Police Department to turn themselves in for a burglary that had occurred at the Putney Central School in Putney.  Tpr. Max Trenosky was dispatched to Brattleboro PD where he interviewed Lucien Rosenbloom and Noah Morse.  Tpr. Trenosky learned that the pair had burglarized the Putney Central School very early on Saturday morning 08/13/16.  Rosenbloom and Morse turned over a significant amount of stolen property to Tpr. Trenosky and Tpr. Roel Diaz.  That property was later transported and logged into evidence at the Westminster Barracks.  Upon signing on for shift on 08/17/16 Cpl. Mike Sorensen was tasked with following up on this case.  Personnel from the Putney Central School came to the Westminster Barracks to identify the recovered property and to provide video evidence from the school’s surveillance cameras.

Rosenbloom and Morse came to the Westminster Barracks later in the day, were advised of their rights and provided full confessions with regard to their actions at the Putney Central School.  Investigation revealed that both subjects had been hanging out in the area of the school and had been consuming alcoholic beverages during the late evening of Friday 08/12/16 and into the early morning hours of 08/13/16.  They got bored and went to the playground area of the school, whereupon they noticed an open window at the school.  They initially entered the school to look around, however once inside, the intoxicated pair saw several guitars, MacBook computers, amplifiers, and some tools which they decided to take.  They removed the property from the school to a local residence.

After seeing the public outcry on social media and themselves on surveillance video posted by the Putney Central School, Morse initiated a conversation with Rosenbloom that resulted in their turning themselves in at the closest, open police department; which according to their Internet research was the Brattleboro Police Department.

Morse and Rosenbloom knew each other from attending the same high school, and have been friends for approximately 4 years.

Rosenbloom and Morse were processed at the Westminster Barracks.  Both were released, on conditions of release set by the court, with citations to appear in Windham Superior Court-Criminal Division on 10/11/16 to face the charge of Burglary.
