SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On August 19, 2016 at approximately 0224 hours, the Vermont State Police were notified of a single vehicle crash on Walker Mountain Road in the Town of Clarendon. Regional Ambulance Service and the Clarendon Fire Department also responded.

Upon arrival, troopers identified the operator as Miranda A. Cox. Preliminary investigation revealed Cox had been traveling west on Walker Mountain Road when her vehicle traveled left of center and off the south side of the roadway. The vehicle traveled up a steep embankment before overturning and landing on its right side back in the roadway. The vehicle slid a short distance before coming to a stop near the center of the road. Cox was able to exit the vehicle with the assistance of neighboring residents who responded to the scene after they heard the crash.

Cox displayed signs of alcohol impairment and was screened for DUI. She submitted to a preliminary breath test resulting in a 0.155 BrAC and was taken into custody for DUI. Cox was transported to the Vermont State Police Barracks in Rutland Town where she was processed for DUI and later released to a sober party.

Cox was cited to appear at Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division on September 6, 2016 at 1230 hours to answer to the charge of DUI.

The vehicle was removed by Killington Auto. Despite her impairment, it is likely that Cox’s seatbelt prevented her from sustaining serious injuries.
