VIOLATION: Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement
ACCUSED: Rudy Mattson
CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Randolph, VT
SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On August 4, 2016 at approximately 0235 hours, the Vermont
State Police assisted the University of Vermont Police Department with a pursuit
of a fleeing vehicle. The fleeing suspect vehicle was traveling southbound I-89
at Exit 10 in the town of Waterbury when a Trooper deployed spike strips in a
effort to stop the vehicle. The fleeing vehicle, operated by Rudy Mattson, age
47 of Randolph, struck the Trooper's cruiser, causing moderate rear end damage.
The Trooper was uninjured and Mattson was subsequently taken into custody and
transported by ambulance for treatment of his injuries.
The case is still under investigation by the University of Vermont Police
Department and further press inquiries should be directed to that agency.
