SUMMARY OF CRASH:

State Police responded to a report of a one vehicle rollover crash on Brown Farm Road in Lyndon on 08/20/16 at approximately 1025 hours. At about the same time, the owner of a 2007 Pontiac G5 called to report the vehicle missing after her son had let a friend drive it the night before. The friend reported he had crashed the vehicle.

Troopers found the missing vehicle on its roof off Brown Farm Road and learned the crash had occurred at approximately 0315 hours that morning. The vehicle has sustained heavy damage and was totaled as a result. Mountain View Auto towed the vehicle from the scene.

Further investigation revealed Daniel Liberty, although unlicensed, was permitted to drive the vehicle the night before. Troopers found that Liberty, who earlier had been drinking alcohol along with a number of other underage individuals at a residence on Walters Farm Road in East Haven, was traveling south on Brown Farm Road at a high rate of speed. Liberty began yanking the wheel in an attempt to make the vehicle's rear end break traction. He succeeded, and lost control of the vehicle causing it to go off the road and airborne while rolling several times. Liberty was issued a number of traffic tickets as well as a citation to appear in Caledonia County Court on 10/17/16 for Careless and Negligent Operation of the vehicle. The vehicle owner's son was also issued a number of tickets.

Troopers continued their investigation into the underage drinking party and subsequently issued a citation for Furnishing Alcohol to Minors to the host of the party, a 17 year old male. He is scheduled to appear in Essex County Court on 10/18/2016.
