Calais, VT - At approximately 7:12 pm this evening, troopers at the Vermont State Police barracks in Middlesex were notified of a missing swimmer at Curtis Pond in Calais. Swimmers in the area called 911 to report that a friend had not reappeared after entering the water. Troopers responded to the area to assist with the search, along with the Woodbury Fire Department and East Montpelier Fire & Ambulance. At this time the swimmer has not been located. The search will continue at daylight tomorrow. The investigation is on-going at this time.
Names of the persons involved and the missing swimmer are being withheld at this time. Vermont State Police will continue the search in and around the water of Curtis Pond, and are conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
