SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On 8/1/16 at 11:00am Vermont State Police came across a one vehicle crash on East West Rd. in Dummerston. While responding to a separate crash, a trooper was flagged down by two women that had been standing on a bridge. The women advised that a vehicle had crashed down a steep embankment into the stream. Investigation revealed that Wayne Olson had been traveling west and that he failed to negotiate a curve just prior to the bridge. His vehicle traveled off the right side of the pavement and plummeted down a 30 foot embankment into the stream. The vehicle had landed on its side and Olson was helped out of the rear door of the van by a neighbor. He had bumps and bruises and a small laceration on his head from trying to get out of the van but he refused medical treatment. Dummerston Fire closed the road for approximately 1 hour while the van was recovered. Olson was issued a warning for failing to maintain his lane.
