SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On August 13, 2016 at approximately 8:54PM Vermont State Troopers, Gary Salvatore and Nader Hashim were responding to a citizen assist complaint. While responding to the complaint both Troopers were traveling south on Interstate 91 in the area of mile marker 21 south when they encountered flooding on the bridge along the primary lane of I91. This was result of the high volume of rain. As a result both marked police cars began to hydroplane. During this time the Troopers were unable to regain control of their vehicles and a collision occurred. During the collision the two cars struck each other before coming to a final rest along the southbound shoulder of I-91.

Tpr. Salvatore and Tpr. Hashim were transported to the Brattleboro Memorial hospital to be evaluated and treated due to the crash. Both troopers were later released from the hospital with minor injuries. Both police cars sustained damage as a result of the crash.  I-91 southbound lanes were closed for a period of time as a result of the crash and to divert the water causing the flooding. Any further request for information should be directed to Lt Reg Trayah at 802-442-5421.
