SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On 08/28/2016 at approximately 2130, Troopers took a walk-in report at the Derby Barracks.  The results of an interview with the complainant, Michael Josey, as well as subsequent investigation, indicated that Josey had been assaulted by fear of bodily injury by means of a motor vehicle, by Aaron Coburn, 37, of Newport City.  It was also learned that Coburn had been operating his motor vehicle recklessly and negligently while a juvenile victim was unrestrained in the back seat, placing her in danger of bodily injury.

Troopers subsequently learned that Coburn had been arrested shortly thereafter by Newport PD on an unrelated domestic assault charge.

On 08/29/2016 at approximately 1900, Troopers learned that Coburn was being bailed from NSCF on Newport PD’s charges.  Troopers responded to the jail and encountered Coburn as he was leaving, and placed him under arrest for suspicion of first degree aggravated domestic assault, aggravated assault, cruelty to children under 10 by one over 16, recklessly endangering another person, grossly negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Coburn was transported to the VSP-Derby Barracks where he was processed, and transported to NSCF where he was held for lack of $50,000.00 bail.
