Franklin County - Agg. Domestic Assault

VICTIM:   By Policy the Vermont State Police doesn’t provide the names of victims of Domestic Violence in a press release.




            On August 17, 2016, at approximately 1503 hours the Vermont State Police were summoned to Montgomery by a neighbor of the victim indicating that there was a domestic situation that occurred involving a gun. Troopers responded to the area and met with the victim about the incident for a statement which was provided.

            Troopers subsequently went to the residence where the incident occurred to conduct interviews and an investigation. Upon the initial investigation it was gleaned that a handgun was fired by Brianna Croteau during the incident that involved the victim. No one was injured in the incident. 

            Croteau was arrested for First Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault due to the handgun involvement, and she was transported to the Vermont State Police St. Albans Barracks for processing. A judge was contacted who set conditions for release of Croteau. Brianna Croteau was released on a citation to answer for the charge, and scheduled to appear in Franklin County Superior Court, Criminal Division on Friday, August 19, 2016, at 1100 hours.

            The investigation continues.
