SUMMARY OF CRASH: On 08/12/16 at approximately 1616 hours, Vermont State Police
were dispatched to Dorset Hollow Road, near the area of Upper and Lower Hollow
Road, Dorset, for a single vehicle crash. It was reported the vehicle was stuck
on a tree and the operator was trying to get their vehicle off said tree,
assumingly to leave the scene.

Upon arrival, the Trooper made contact with the operator, identified as James
Lane, as he was being evaluated by Manchester Rescue. Lane advised he had fallen
asleep at the wheel, which subsequently resulted in him driving off the roadway,
into and on top of a small tree. While speaking to Lane, the Trooper made
several observations leading him to believe Lane may be under the influence of
intoxicants. The Trooper asked Lane to perform Field Sobriety Exercises, during
which Lane showed several clues of impairment. Lane declined to provide a
Preliminary Breath Test roadside. Lane was taken into custody for Suspicion of
DUI and subsequently transported to the Manchester Police Department for
processing. It should be noted Lane was also found to be in possession of
cocaine at the time.

Lane was released with a citation to appear in Bennington County Superior Court,
Criminal Division on 08/29/16 at 0815 hours.
