DESCRIPTION OF VEHICLE: Red 2006 Chevy Cobalt.
DAMAGE TO VEHICLE: Front bumper, hood, undercarriage, passenger side, rear bumper.
WEATHER: Clear, dry weather
ROAD COND: Dry pavement
SUMMARY OF CRASH: Vehicle left the roadway, struck a telephone pole and came to rest in a culvert.
SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: Vermont State Police were dispatched to a single vehicle crash on US RT 5 in the town of Derby. Upon arrival, Vermont State Police identified the operator as Ryan Hinton. While speaking with Hinton an odor of intoxicants was detected emitting from his person. Hinton performed standardized field sobriety exercises and consented to a preliminary breath test which resulted in .167% blood alcohol content. Hinton was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and brought to the Derby Barracks for processing.
