VIOLATION: welfare check and self inflicted gun shot wound

 

ACCUSED:           Dennis Belanger

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE:  928 Valley Road Holland VT

 

 

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:  On 8-22-16 Vermont State Police Troopers responded to 928 Valley Road for a welfare check on Belanger after he had not contacted anyone in several days.   Upon arrival Troopers engaged Belanger and he was threatening to harm himself with a weapon.   A perimeter was established around his residence.   VSP and North East Kingdom Human Services attempted to talk with Belanger.   During the situation Belanger called 911 and reported a self-inflicted gunshot wound to himself.  Troopers gained entry into the house and located Belanger with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  He was transported to NC Hospital with what is reported as non-life threatening injury.   US Border Patrol assisted at the scene.
