SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On July 23, 2016, at 00:02 hours, Shaftsbury Troopers responded to a single motor vehicle crash involving a downed telephone pole on Bank Street, near Dunham Ave, in the town of Shaftsbury (VT).

Upon arrival, Troopers discovered the vehicle and operator to no longer be on scene.   A power pole/ lines were blocking both lanes of Bank Street, causing a temporary road closure.  The Shaftsbury Fire Department and Green Mountain Power Company responded to the scene to assist.

Further investigation led Troopers to a residence on Dunham Ave.  Troopers identified the operator as Nicole Flagg, age 25, of Shaftsbury (VT).

After completion of the Standard Field Sobriety Tests (SFST’s), Flagg was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.   Flagg later provided a sample of breath roadside, which indicated her BAC was .183 % - more than twice the legal limit.

Flagg was taken into custody and processed at the Shaftsbury Barracks.  At the conclusion of processing, Flagg was issued a citation to appear in the Bennington County Superior Court, Criminal Division on August 15, 2016, at 08:15 hours.
