SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On July 2, 2016 at approximately 1232 hrs, I was notified by VSP Dispatch of a car versus motorcycle crash on Carter Hill Rd. in Highgate. Vermont State Police responded to the scene along with Highgate Fire Department, and AmCare. Upon arrival it was observed to be a head-on collision, the motorcycle operator was ejected approximately 75 feet into the neighbor's yard. After an investigation and interviewing eyewitnesses it was determined that Vehicle #1 was traveling Northwest on Carter Hill Road at a high rate of speed. Vehicle#2 was traveling Southeast, almost at a complete stop, and in the process of turning into a driveway. Due to the excessive speed, Operator #1 did not have enough time to react after the first point of possible perception before impact. Operator #1 was transported to Northwest Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of serious injuries. Operator #2 was not injured. Alcohol is not considered to be a factor for the crash.

Respectfully,

Trooper Mike Filipek
