CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE:  Sanford, Florida.

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On 07/18/2016 at approximately 1232 hours Troopers from the New Haven Barracks,

Patrolman Josh Otey from the Bristol Police Department, and members of the

Bristol Fire Department and Rescue Squad, responded the area of Bartlett Falls

on Lincoln RD, in the town of Bristol for a report of a swimmer in distress.

Initial reports to Vermont State Police Dispatch indicated a "male was having

difficulty in the water after diving in."

 

Upon arrival it was determined that 53 year old Kirk Harris of Sanford, Florida,

had sustained a severe injury to his neck and back after diving into shallow

water from the rock ledge.

 

Harris was secured on a backboard and carried out the falls area by first

responders prior to being transported to The University of Vermont Health Center

in Burlington.
