CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Johnson, VT

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:  On this date and approximate time, Vermont State Police encountered a brush fire in a field behind the Foote Brook Farm stand in Johnson.  The Johnson Fire Chief, who was identified as Arjay M. West, responded to the scene.  Following an investigation, Mr. West was taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence.  West provided a Preliminary Breath Sample of .082% and was cooperative throughout the investigation.  He was processed at the Morristown Police Department and released on citation.

The fire was found to be a field of brush that the land owner was burning and had reportedly obtained a burn permit.  The fire was controlled by the landowner.
