SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On July 24, 2016 at approximately 0814 hours, members of the Vermont State Police were advised of a single vehicle crash on East Pittsford Road at the intersection of Colonial Drive in Rutland Town.

 

Upon arrival, the operator of the single motor vehicle was identified as Nicholas Coccia. Coccia advised that he was traveling from Chittenden to Rutland and had been "Hunting Pokemon" with friends. Coccia confirmed that that he was distracted by his phone and the Pokemon game. Coccia exhibited signs of alcohol impairment. Coccia participated in Standard Field Dextierty Exercises and provided a preliminary breath test resulting in a .205 BrAC and was taken into custody for DUI. Coccia was processed for DUI at the Rutland barracks and released on a citation to appear at Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division to answer the charge of Driving under the influence. Coccia was released to a sober family member.
