SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On July 27, 2016 at approximately 0706 hours, Vermont State Police-Westminster Barracks received a Emergency 911 call advising of a house explosion at 33 Great Blue Heron Drive, in the Town of Guilford, Vermont. The Vermont State Police and the Guilford Fire Department were immediately dispatched.
Upon arrival, it was discovered the residence has completely exploded and the homeowner was entrapped inside the basement. Emergency crews were able to extricate the homeowner within an hour and he was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives from the Vermont State Police- Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Arson Unit and Explosives Ordinance Team, and State of Vermont Division of Fire Safety are currently investigating to determine the cause and origin of the explosion.
Members from the Guilford Fire Department, Brattleboro Fire Department, Keene- New Hampshire Fire Department, Rescue Inc., State of Vermont Urban Search and Rescue Team, Green Mountain Power, and Guilford Town Highway Department all responded to the scene.
